- 1 / 5By Dee S Sheetzsince Owens has been bought out by Kroger's the lack of name brands has become parent the selections have been numbered and some of the specialty items that they once carried are no longer available is a shame to see Owens a family run and owned business has turned into a Kroger's lacking service and product quality that we are familiar with and are used to getting the meat selections have been reduced and the chicken quality has failed immensely by not utilizing Golden plump for the 5 pound quarter bags it is sad to see our hometown store reduced to another dollar store it will never be the same sad to say shopping at Myers now with a selection is more broad and you can find the specialty items and namebrand food products we once enjoyed at Owens.January 02, 2017
